The whine of a drone fades as a distant speck, but the gunners are already tracking. Those agile action air targets—pulsing radio-controlled silhouettes—dart and bank over the sagebrush, forcing spotters to adjust for wind and range. With each pass, the trainees learn to lead the shot, their tracer rounds arcing in vain as the target jinks just in time. It's a game of timing and nerves, where a split-second miscalculation means the 'bandit' survives to taunt another run.
